Host of Judy Carmichael's Jazz Inspired

Judy Carmichael is a Grammy nominated pianist, vocalist, composer and one of the world’s leading interpreters of stride and swing piano.  Count Basie nicknamed her “Stride”, acknowledging the command with which she plays this technically and physically demanding jazz piano style.  

Judy has played the major concert halls and festivals around the world and been featured on A Prairie Home Companion (musically and doing comic skits), NPR’s Morning EditionEntertainment TonightCBS' Sunday MorningCNN and numerous shows for the BBC and other international radio and TV programs.  She has written two books on stride piano and her writing is featured regularly in Jazz Times and other jazz periodicals.

Judy hosts and produces Judy Carmichael’s Jazz Inspired now in its 18th year. Each week Judy talks with everyone from Tony Bennett and Seth MacFarlane to Billy Joel and Neil deGrasse Tyson about their love for jazz and how it inspires them.  Judy Carmichael’s Jazz Inspired airs Tuesdays at 11pm on WPPB 88.3 FM, and SiriusXM Saturday and Sundays at 11pm and on NPR throughout the country.
