This week our WPPB TBT celebrates the 90th birthday of Richard Wayne "Dick" Van Dyke!

Born December 13, 1925, the talented and versatile actor, comedian, producer, writer, singer, and dancer has been in show business for nearly seventy years. A star of stage and film since 1959...Bye Bye Birdie, Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and most recently Merry Xmas, an award-winning 2015 American short film...Dick Van Dyke is even more famous for his work on Television. Among his long, long, long, list of TV appearances one of my favorites is a 1974 Columbo episode "Negative Reaction" where Dick plays the role of professional photographer Paul Galesko who plots to kill his domineering and bitter wife. Two decades later Van Dyke does the reverse in his 1990s comedy/mystery/medical crime drama series Diagnosis: Murder featuring Dick as Dr. Mark Sloan, a medical doctor who solves crimes with the help of his son, a homicide detective played by his real-life son Barry Van Dyke. Dick was also a cast member for 11 episodes of The Carol Burnett Show in 1977.

However, nothing Mr. Van Dyke's accomplished during his illustrious career is more memorable than his portrayal of Rob Petrie. I mean excepting of P.L. Travers {the author of the Mary Poppins books reportedly hated our birthday boy} who doesn't love The Dick Van Dyke Show?!

So let's celebrate our living legend, television hall of famer and recipient of five Emmys, a Tony and a Grammy, with a classic holiday episode from TV GUIDE'S 13th greatest TV Series of all time, first aired Wednesday night, December 18, 1963, five days after the show's leading man turned 38.

F.Y.I. 14:58 - 19:28 = Rob & Laura dancing/singing as Santas.
